A £5 note is borrowed from a spectator. It is signed for later identification, and placed into an envelope. A packet of cigarettes is produced from the magicians pocket and the spectator selects one, and writes their initials on it. The cigarette is then placed into the envelope along with the bill, and the magician goes on to seal, and then burn the envelope, with the bill and cigarette in it, to ashes. The marker pen is then opened up from the bottom and a cigarette has mysteriously appeared inside. The cigarette has the spectators initials on it, and bizarrely enough, when the cigarette is broken in half, the borrowed-signed bill is found inside.
This is a beautiful effect – when executed well it will fool anyone (including magicians). There is a set-up involved, and the trick requires a bit of basic sleight of hand, but if you can pull it off, you will establish yourself as a miracle-worker.
