Personally I was very disappointed with this effect. As soon as I saw the method I decided it probably wouldn't be for me. However I thought I should at least try it out. I set the gimmick about seven times, resetting was only straightforward once. On the seventh attempt the gimmick broke and a vital part of it to look intents and purposes vanished. I think this is one of those effects that some people will be pleased with and others will discard it immediately.

Blows people away Review by bloodkin

If you perform PK magic, this type of effect kills. I don't know how it would go over if you broke it out and the end of a coin and card set, but I've specialized in PK. And having something move, especially covered, just blows people away. Another thing that surprised me when I started in PK, was that it seemed, the smaller the movement the bigger reaction. It all stems from your performing style and building credibility in the type of effects you're doing.

Disappointed Review by Michael Daniels

Mine arrived this morning and I've had a little play with it. It's pretty much as advertised although not (in my opinion) totally self-contained.

The setup and reset are fiddly and I'm not sure that the special "stuff" included is the type described in the video tutorial. The stuff doesn't work well for me and isn't as clean as suggested.

On the plus side, Captive does come with a PK pen that can be used for other effects (the PK pen isn't needed for the cap effect itself).

Overall I'm disappointed with Captive and won't be using it.

I think Captive is fantastic. It does exactly what it says on tin and it does it well.
It's about 2 seconds at most to reset, and I've already got a handling to reset it right in front of them.

After the effect is done, go into your pocket and pull out your keys. Transfer the cap over and put the key where it needs to be and go into your other pocket as if you're looking for the pen. The spectator holding it should now remind you that they have it and you are done. I've had a few run throughs of the move and its fairly easy to do.
